Haritha Wedathanthirige is a seasoned research consultant with over two decades of experience specializing in sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices, and inclusive private sector development. His work has spanned diverse geographies, including Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, and beyond, where he has led impactful projects that drive sustainable and equitable growth.
Haritha’s expertise lies in developing strategic plans for sustainable business growth and conducting in-depth research in areas such as value chain development, enterprise development, and the impacts of climate change. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned international organizations, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and CARE International.
At the ILO, Haritha managed the Enter-Growth project, where he pioneered innovative approaches in Micro and Small Enterprise Development. His work contributed significantly to fostering local economic development and promoting inclusive growth through improved market systems and sustainable enterprise strategies.
In addition to his consultancy work, Haritha is an instructor on Udemy, where he teaches the course "Sustainability Management in Business." This course empowers learners to navigate the complexities of ESG and integrate sustainability into core business operations. Participants gain practical skills to identify sustainable business opportunities, manage operations responsibly, and align their organizational goals with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Haritha holds a PhD in Sustainability with a focus on the Green Economy from Management and Science University. He also earned master’s degrees in Organizational Management and Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya. His passion for sustainable development is reflected in his strong academic background and a robust portfolio of publications in esteemed journals, through which he actively contributes to the global discourse on sustainable business practices.
