Patrick SieglerLathrop is a dual American-French national who has lived in Portugal since 2008. He is an accomplished investment banker, entrepreneur, consultant, professor, and author with a rich and varied international career spanning finance, entrepreneurship, corporate strategy, non-profit leadership, and academia.
Patrick began his professional journey with 15 years in international investment banking, arranging complex financings around the world. He went on to own and manage an industrial company for another 15 years, while also launching several ventures and advising both start-ups and mature companies as a senior consultant and strategist. His entrepreneurial and corporate experiences are complemented by over a decade in academia, including 10 years as a visiting professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD—widely regarded as Europe’s leading business school—and at Paris Dauphine University, with a brief tenure at the Católica School of Business & Economics in Lisbon.
Patrick is the editor-in-chief and owner of Rendez-Vous with America, a platform dedicated to fostering understanding of the American political system. He is also the author of the bilingual book RENDEZ-VOUS WITH AMERICA: An Explanation of the US Election System, which presents the complexities of the U.S. Presidential and Congressional elections in a clear, non-partisan manner, accessible to both Portuguese and English readers.
His writings have appeared in prominent Portuguese publications such as Diário de Notícias, Lusíada Economia & Empresa, Diplomàtica, and others. He currently contributes a weekly column to Diário de Notícias.
In the non-profit sector, Patrick was a founding member and served for 30 years on the board of Action Contre la Faim, a major humanitarian organization operating in over 40 countries. He also served as Chair of Democrats Abroad Portugal from 2014 to 2016 and, since 2018, has held the position of President of the American Club of Lisbon, a 76-year-old business and networking organization dedicated to promoting goodwill and understanding between cultures.
