Learn how to capture business processes through the use of specialist diagrams. Convert the insights about business operations collected from stakeholder interviews and document analysis into concise and unambiguous models. Understand the benefits and limitations of different notations to select the one that will work best in your situation.  The course offers a comprehensive overview of business process modeling methodology and notations.   It shows the method to identify processes, capture them, and document and adjust the models to different audiences.  The course is broken down into four main sections: 

  • What is a business process: We will discuss the definition of a business process and the role process modeling plays in different industries 
  • Preparation for process modeling: We will learn to identify and scope the boundaries of a process as well as the main building blocks of a process 
  • Process modeling notations: We will explore the most popular process modeling notations, including Flowchart, UML, BPMN, DFD, UPN 
  • Modeling best practices: We will talk about making your diagrams easy to read, documenting processes via specifications, and adjusting the documentation approach to different audiences
