This course delves into the nature of lending to all of the various borrowers in the financial markets.  It will cover how borrowing and loans are originate to consumers, corporations and governments (both federal and municipal). It will also address how loans are structured and priced and how risk of default (non-payment and late payment) is managed by the lender.  This course is intended to provide a solid understanding of loan origination, pricing, credit risk and portfolio management, and as appropriate, syndication and or sale of the loan. This includes personal loans, auto loans, mortgage loans, student loans, corporate loans, corporate bonds, federal government bond and municipal bonds. We will also address the role of various credit rating agencies that assess the risk of the loan to various parties, as well as the pricing (that is the cost, or interest rate) of the loan or debt.  This course is intended to provide a fundamental understanding of credit in the US. How it is obtained, how credit is used, and how banks and financial institutions manage, sell-off and securitize credit in the market to their parties.
