Java Programming Specialist

What does a professional in this career do?

A Java programming specialist is responsible for developing applications and software using the programming language Java. These specialized programmers collaborate with fellow software engineers, web developers, and others to use Java for developing business applications, websites and more.

In this job you will...

  • Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of end-user applications software running on local, networked, and Internet- based platforms.
  • Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of the overall architecture of product or solution.
  • Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture.
  • Leads a project team of other software applications engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for assigned applications portion or subsystem.
  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding software applications design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Represents the software applications engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
  • Maintain and Write code for complex systems that address project specifications and guidelines.
  • Write programs that span multiple platforms.
  • Familiarity with a variety of designs, languages, and methodologies (e.g. SQL, ORM, J2EE, RabbitMQ, Microservices, Agile and Scrum)
  • Competence and comfort using multiple frameworks (e.g. Spark, Storm, Hadoop, Angular 2/4/5, Spring Boot)
  • Ability to gather accurate requirements and work closely with stakeholders to prioritize tasks and the scope of development.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and make adjustments in a testing environment.
